Welcome Mrs. Lorenz: You may have heard that Mrs. Lorenz was in our room a couple of times last week. She will be joining us each week as she works to complete the next step to getting her Masters in Education. In addition, she will be substituting for me from Thursday through possibly next Tuesday. The family member who was supposed to have surgery in January will hopefully have the procedure done Thursday and I will be out for a few days. If you have an absence to report please contact Mrs. Trumbley. Please feel free to still email me any classroom questions or concerns as I will still be checking mail, in contact with Mrs. Lorenz, and keeping close contact on the progress in the classroom. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Word Work: Our class will be learning to form plurals by adding -s, -es, or -ies to words such as rocks, wishes, boxes, and puppies this week. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to access the Unit 20 practice list for the week.

End Of The Day:  Please remember that students should leave at the end of the day.  We have had instances of students wrestling on the front lawn, playing football, or going to the playground to play on the structures.    We look forward to a time when playing after school becomes an option.  Thank you for the help.

Math News:  During our second week of geometry we will be learning to identify 3-dimensional shapes and their attributes such as number of faces, bases, and vertices. Creating and identifying symmetrical shapes and objects will also be part of this week’s lessons.

Springtime Activities:  The days are getting longer and busier as spring activities are getting underway.  Please help your child perform well by getting enough sleep and continuing 20 minutes of reading and 5- 10 minutes of math fact practice nightly.  We appreciate the encouragement and support you give your child to do his/her best at school each day.  Thank you

Library Books:  Please help your child remember to return or renew his/her library books every Monday.  The media center is asking students to return late books and monitor how many books they have checked out to ensure all books are returned by the end of the year.
