Word Work: Our class will learn words that follow the long o digraph syllable pattern this week.  Long o digraph syllable patterns use the following vowel teams oa, ow, and oe.    The following words are examples of this pattern throat, pillow, and foe.   Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to practice long a digraph word list.

Math Center:  We have now had 2 rounds of math center in our classroom.  The students are doing well moving forward in their math facts.  On Monday, we are sending home a practice math center sheet for homework.  They could try to complete it in 2 minutes.  If any facts are left over after the timer goes off, have your child draw a line where they stopped and complete the rest of the sheet.  All of the facts should be complete when they return the practice on Tuesday.   This week we will also be sending home flashcards in their take home folders.  These should go back and forth between school so your child can practice at home and at school.  By the end of the year, students should have completed Wizard levels A, B, C, and D.

Halloween:  We had a fantastic day on Friday.  During the day students read stories they had created in a ghost book, we solved The Great Jack-O-Lantern breakout box using problem solving and math skills, and we watch Its The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown to practice our character analyzing skills to determine how the character's traits change through the story.  There were so many great costumes that I will share in an Animoto in our google classroom. Hopefully your student had some fun stories to share.  Thank you so much to everyone who sent in supplies to make our day a wonderful memory.

Math Game:  Directions for Name that Number game will be sent home on Tuesday. The only materials your child needs to play this game is a deck of cards. If this is a hardship for your family, please contact me. Thank you
