Weekly Update

Week of January 18, 2021

 

1  1/18	Martin Luther King, Jr. Day / No School
1  1/19	We have Math Center and SEL.    Homework: Practice for math center and read your     word list.
1/20	We have gym.
1/21	We have art.
1/22	We have music.

Word Work: Our class will be continuing practice the r-controlled /air/ syllable pattern this week. Our syllable pattern makes the sound as in beware, rarely, and prairie. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.  Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week. 

Substitute Cancelled: I will be at school this week as my absence has been rescheduled for a later date. I am very glad not to have to miss time with the students.

Math Fact Mastery: At this time of year, your child should be half-way through Wizard C.  If he/she is not at this point, please make sure to practice facts nightly.   Your child has flashcards that are carried back and forth between school and home nightly in the Take Home Folder.   Let me know if you have any questions.

Nightly Reading: Students nightly reading routine should be spent reading at least 20 minutes. Ideally, it would be beneficial for students to read to an adult for half of the time.  Students may read on RAZ, EPIC, and BookFlix as an alternative for reading books and magazines each night.  Thank you for your support.
