Weekly Update
Week of March 15, 2021
Word Work: Our class will learn about compound words such as someone, cherry pie, and part-time. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the Unit 18 practice list for the week.
Guest Teacher On Wednesday and Thursday: Mrs. Lorenz and Mr. Reimers will be the guest teachers on Wednesday and Thursday. My step-daughter is getting married soon and I have the honor of traveling with her to help her do some on site planning. I am so excited for both teachers to join us as are the students. Please remind them on those mornings before school to listen to the guest teacher with the same respect that they give me. Thank you for the help.
Math News: We have begun learning how to measure to the nearest inch and centimeter in math. It would be helpful for students to spend some time measuring different items using a ruler or tape measure. Some suggestions are measuring the length of a book, the height of a table, or the distance from the refrigerator to the sink. Have your child give an estimate of a length or distance before measuring. Recording the measurements on paper using the unit of measurement is beneficial. Thank you for your support.
