Conferences:  Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to meet with me to discuss your child.  Our conference will take place using Google Meet.  To access our meeting, I will email you a link that you will click on to get into the conference

Each conference is scheduled for 20 minutes including connection time.  This will leave approximately 15 minutes to address topics with you.  As you enter the meeting, please note that if I am still in the prior meeting, their name will be listed in addition to my name.  Please allow time for that person to exit the meeting.  You should see my name still listed as being in the meeting.  If more time is needed than allowed after our time together, I will be happy to schedule another meeting on a different day with you.

Please send me an email if you have questions or concerns about our conference.

Word Work: This week your child will be learning words that follow the open syllable rule.  This rule includes words like me, go, dry, music, lady, and myself.   The words can be found on Spelling City to practice.  Please remember to use the list that comes home to practice reading words, talk about the word’s meaning, and look for common patterns in the way the words are spelled.  Please do not feel your child should be able to spell all the words on this list.

Math Games: Ten Frame War will come home later this week.  Please keep all math games at home to continue playing throughout the year.  Our hope is that students will play math games twice weekly if possible with an adult.  This along with reading 15 minutes each night makes up our homework expectation.

Lexia Core 5: Our second graders have taken their placement test in Lexia this past week at school.  Students are welcome to go online and complete lessons at home.  The lessons should be done independently without any adult help.  If your child sees a red apple, he or she should stop and log out.  A lesson will be given at school to help clarify the skill or concept.  We will begin using Lexia at school but with limited computers it will not be on a daily basis.  Thank you
